On October 13, 2020, the IWRP participated in the training course on "Real Water Savings in Agricultural Systems" (REWAS), which was held online with the participation of 14 trainees who are officers and engineers of the IWRP.

Giving opening speach at the trainingcourse, Mr. Thai Gia Khanh, Deputy Director, said that the IWRP's leaders were very interested in capacity building, especially for young staff of the Institute. The training course is an opportunity for the trainees to learn, enrich knowledge about hydraulic work planning, improve their qualifications to meet work requirements, and actively contribute to the development of the Institute.

The training course on “Real Water Savings in Agricultural Systems” (REWAS) is organized by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The lecturers are experts from FAO and FutureWater (Netherlands).

FAO's Water Scarcity Program (WSP) has been in place since 2019 and is in the process of developing a range of new policy tools and approaches to assist countries in tackling the situation of increasing water scarcity in the agricultural sector. Vietnam is one of the key five countries in the WSP program.

The Real Water Savings in Agricultural Systems (REWAS) assessment tool was developed as part of the WSP program.

The 4-week training course starting on October 13, 2020 includes 1 hour of online learning via video system and 7 hours of self-study per week.

Thanks to the cooperation activities with FAO and FutureWater, officers of the Institute have gradually improved their science and technology capabilities to meeting the requirements of the Institute's mission and development orientation.
