Seminar “Integrated water management in the Red River: remote sensing and modeling for optimal reservoir management” at the IWRP

03/07/2015

On July 2nd 2015, the Institute of Water Resources Planning (IWRP), cooperating with a researcher team of HKV and Delft University of Technology – Netherlands, held a seminar on “Integrated water management in the Red River: remote sensing and modeling for optimal reservoir management”.

The seminar has its participation of Mr. Thai Gia Khanh – Deputy Director of IWRP, Mr. Luong Ngoc Chung – Deputy Director of IWRP and other experts and researchers of the institutes. The presenter from Netherlands is Ms. Nicole Jungermann - a regional water advisor and expert on water resources management and information systems, who presented the methodology of exploiting and processing remote sensing images, and applying hydraulic and hydrological models on integrated water management and optimal reservoir management in the basins of the Dah and Red Rivers.

At the seminar, Mr. Vu Phuong Nam, an expert of Department of Water Environment Planning and Water Environmental Laboratory, summarized major results from the project “Integrated and sustainable water Management of Red-Thai Binh River System in a changing climate”.

Closing the seminar, both sides have recognized and expected other technical exchange and new opportunities for closer cooperation in the future.
