Mr. Do Van Thanh, Director General, Chairman of the Council chaired the conference which gathered the participation of experts and scientists from agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vietnam Academie of Water Resources, the Thuy Loi University, and the IWRP itself. The council highly appreciated the research quality with the significant volume of work implemented.
The main research results of the project have shown 11 inter-regional and inter-basin water transfer routes, of which 8/11 routes are newly proposed, not in any previous plans.
The research has indicated 4 water transfer routes that are highly feasible, including: Route 1: Cua Dat - Song Muc reservoir to supply water to Nghi Son economic zone; Route 3: Connecting Ngan Truoi reservoir to the coastal area of Ha Tinh province; Route 10: O Lau Thuong route combined with Hoa My reservoir to feed the sandy areas of Thua Thien Hue province; and Route 11: Truoi reservoir - Thuy Yen - Thuy Cam to serve water for Chan May economic zone.
Other 4 water transfer routes with medium feasibility level are also proposed, including: Route 2: Cua Dat canal connecting with small reservoirs to supply water for the areas along the Ho Chi Minh Rail; Route 4: Rao Tro - Lac Tien - Vuc Tron to feed the Hon La Economic Zone and Quang Binh province coastal area; Route 5: Rao Da reservoir transfers water to the FLC on Quang Binh coastal area; and Route 7: Khe Meo reservoir - Ha Thuong reservoir to feed the sandy coastal areas of Quang Tri provinces.
In addition, 3 potential water transfer routes are suggested, i.e., Route 6: Hoi Da - Dong Ran - Vuc Sanh - Cua Nghe to supply water for the Quang Trach coastal area; Route 8: La Nga reservoir- Bao Dai supplies water to the hills of Vinh Ninh; and Route 9: Trieu Thuong 1 - Trieu Thuong 2 reservoirs supplies water to Trieu Phong hilly areas.
These proposed solutions are considered as important input base in shaping a breakthrough, inter-regional and inter-basin development in the field of hydraulic work and disaster prevention in the North Central Region.
