The Institute of Water Resources Planning (IWRP), with the inherent strengths of the leading hydraulic work planning agency in the country, has many years of experiences in using powerful model sets to serve hydrological and hydraulic calculations in hydraulic work planning, flood forecasting and warning, as well as disaster mitigation.

In recent years, advanced developments in cloud computing technology have actively supported the use of powerful modeling platforms that previously had to run on land-based company servers which require high hardware capabilities but not always affordable.

The recent approach to the 3Di modeling platform, developed by the Nelen & Schuurmans (Netherlands), allows hydrodynamic simulations, interactive and online, designed to support hydrologists, decision makers and stakeholders to prevent, mitigate and manage the impact of floods. This could be one of the most advanced and useful tools for the Institute's work, especially in simulating, forecasting and warning floods and inundation.

Currently, many young staff of the Institute have participated in training to familiarize themselves with and apply the model in regular tasks of the Institute. This new approach will hopefully be effective, complement the existing model sét available at the Institute and help solve the problem of simulating flooding and inundation for low-lying areas, downstream of reservoirs, and river basins across the country in the context of increasingly obvious and unpredictable impacts of climate change.
