On October 3, 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) organized a national conference on Science, Technology, Innovation and Technical Advances at the Vietnam Academy of Water Resources Science (Key Laboratory of River and Coastal Engineering at Thach Hoa commune, Thach That district, Hanoi).

 

The conference was attended by nearly 400 scientists, experts, and managers from ministries, sectors, scientific and technological institutes, local departments, enterprises and manufacturers. MARD’s Vice Minister Mr. Phung Duc Tien gave an opening speech at the Conference.

At the conference, products, technological processes, useful solutions, materials, equipment, and new research results that are potential to be applied to practices to improve the management and operation efficiency of hydraulic work, dykes, natural disaster mitigation and climate change adaptation meeting the requirements of sustainable development of the agricultural sector were introduced.

Research results and scientific and technological products generated from research works; from the application of scientific and technology (new technology, equipment, technical advances, useful solutions and commodity products) were also presented and displayed at the conference.

At the Conference, the IWRP had three presentations related to the management of hydraulic work systems and natural disaster prevention and reduction, specifically:

1. Scenarios for coordinated operation and reasonable water regulation of hydropower and irrigation reservoirs in the Ca River basin for dry season water supply by MSc. Pham Cong Thanh.

2. Application of remote sensing technology to count and monitor water sources by MSc. Ha Thanh Lan.

3. Proposing solutions to prevent flooding and waterlogging for Bui river basin and surrounding areas by Dr. Bui Tuan Hai.
