On November 25, 2020, in Hanoi, the IWRP directed by Mr. Do Van Thanh – Chairman of the IWRP's Scientific and Technological Council held a successful initial acceptance workshop of the State-level Scientific Research under the Program KC 08 / 16-20. The state-level scientific research - KC.08.29 / 16-20: "Study on scientific basis and proposing solutions for water resources regulation and allocation in the Central Highland and South-Central regions" " under the program "Scientific and technological research for environmental protection and natural disaster prevention" led by Ms. Dang Thi Kim Nhung, Head of the Division for Water Resources Planning for the Southern Central and Central Highland regions as the manager.

The study aims to propose appropriate and effective solutions to regulate and allocate inter-basin water resources in the Central Highland and South-Central regions in order to minimize risks of natural disasters, drought, and water shortage. The study has completed 6 scientific products and been published on domestic and international scientific journals as well as supported PhD and master students.

The Council agreed and highly appreciated the creativity of the topic, including: scientific and practical basis of water transfer regulation in the South-Central Coast and the Central Highlands; setting set of models to calculate and evaluate water resources, current and future water demands in the context of climate change 2046-2065 for 45 subregions; comprehensively assessing storage capacity in irrigation – hydropower reservoirs, current and future water demand. The Council also agreed with the recommendations of the study and contributed some ideas to improve and highlight the research results as well as to put research results into practice.

The study was evaluated and ranked as Excellent by the Council.
