On March 22, 2023, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Phung Duc Tien paid a working visit to the IWRP. He was accompanied by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy - Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Mr. Luong Van Anh - Deputy Director of the Department of Hydraulic Works, Mr. Nguyen Van Tien - Deputy Director of the Department of Dike Management and Disaster Prevention and Control, and other MARD's officials.

After listening to Mr. Do Van Thanh - IWRP's Director General reporting the operation and key tasks in the coming time and the opinions of the Department of Science, Technology and Environment, the Department of Hydraulic Works, the Department of Water Resources, Dike Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Mr. Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien highly appreciated the Institute's tradition and contributions over periods, especially their recent involvement in research and consultancy to the Ministry on many important issues. The Institute plays an important in the fields of planning, forecasting water resources and developing water use plans, managing and exploiting hydraulic works, regulating reservoirs, managing dikes, preventing and controlling natural disasters, protecting the environment. water quality in hydraulic works..., in which scientific research and technology application are focused which has contributed to building scientific basis and providing active support for the production fields of the Institute and the management functions of the Ministry. 

Mr. Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien directed that in the coming time, the Institute must continue to innovate in finding new works, manage and improve their product quality focusing on areas of the Institute's strengths and gradually expand markets. The Institute needs to review, summarize and evaluate the achieved results, identify problems and subjects that need continuous or have room for further research, planning, and areas where it can better advise the Ministry. and for the sector. To achieve that requirement, the Institute needs to be more proactive and creative in management, administration, capacity building, especially the quality of human resources with proactive solutions to improve their product quality and provide more effective consultancy services.
