Within the framework of the Capacity Building Cooperation sponsored by the Orange Knowledge Program (OKP), the Netherlands, the IWRP coordinated with HKV and StudioFlow to organize the training course "Nature-based Solutions to Improve Climate Change Resilience for Vietnam". The training course is divided into 02 modules, organized in the form of thematic lectures, combined with fieldwork. Module 1 of the training course took place at the Institute’s office from November 20, 2023 to November 24, 2023.
Giving lectures at the course are experts from HKV and StudioFlow, World Bank and Thuyloi University (Hanoi Water Resources University). The trainees in the course are lecturers, water experts, local officials, and experts in planning, design and management of mangrove forests in nature reserves and national parks.

With the goal of building capacity to plan and implement nature-based solutions in responding to climate change, managing water and ensuring food security, the trainees were provided with profound analysis by experts on the effectiveness of structural and non-structural solutions on flood safety and food security, the interaction between structural and non-structural solutions, how to manage and integrate solutions into government current policies, evaluate costs - benefits between solutions through comparing life cycle costs.

Combining theory and practice has helped the trainees easily access knowledge, improve their capacity, analysis and research skills. The trainees highly appreciated the knowledge they gained and the effectiveness that the training course brought about.
