Meeting with First Secretary for Water and Climate Change - Embassy of the Netherlands

On the morning of 17 November 2017, representatives of Institute of Water Resources Planning – led by Deputy Director General – Mr. Thai Gia Khanh welcome and worked with Dr. Laurent Umans, First Secretary for Water and Climate Change - Embassy of the Netherlands.

During the meeting, Dr. Laurent Umans shared the Dutch government's vision of a cooperative relationship with the government of Vietnam, including capacity building for administrative agencies, research institutes and universities, local agencies and communities in the protection of the environment, water resources and climate change adaptation.

The Institute of Water Resources Planning has a long history of working with universities, research institutes and consultancy companies from the Netherlands in the field of water and environment. One of the Institute's top priorities is to promote cooperation and exchange technical and managerial expertise with international partners.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Thai Gia Khanh expressed his wish to continue cooperation with the Dutch partners, with the support from the Government of the Netherlands, especially the Embassy of Netherlands in Vietnam in bridging scientists between the two countries. Dr. Laurent Umans hoped that for more than 50 years of experience in water resources, the Institute of Water Resources Planning would be the focal point to actively support Dutch projects in Vietnam in the coming time.
