On 5 August 2016, representatives from Institute of Water Resources Planning attended the Annual National Meeting – Vietnam conducted by Network of Sustainable Hydropower Development in the Mekong basin (NSHD-M) in Hanoi. 

Being one of the first and key partners of GIZ in forming NSHD-M, IWRP has actively supported the development of the Network since 2012 though cooperative activities in researching and organizing regional and national training. Particularly in 2014, IWRP hosted the National training in Sustainable Hydropower Development for Policy and Planning Officials in Vietnam by NSHD-M members with the participation of 25 researchers, lecturers and professionals in water management sector.

To contribute to the operating plan of the network in the next two years, representatives from IWRP and other members from various institutions suggested continuing to promote information sharing, knowledge dissemination activities and strengthen relationships among members and with other target stakeholders in the river basin through extended training and technical seminars. This is also an opportunity for IWRP to share our experience and expertise in water management in the Mekong river and seek to open our partnerships with regional organizations.
