First General Assembly for Asia Water Council, March 2016

From 24 – 26 March, 2016, in Bali, Indonesia, the First General Assembly for Asia Water Council was organized. The Asia Water Council (AWC) is originated and founded from the current status and security of water resources in both global and regional scopes which are becoming unpredictably more serious. AWC is a voluntary organization gathering members from governmental agencies, united national organizations, international organizations, international financial organizations and civil society organizations from many Asian countries with added.

The objectives of AWC are to enhance the awareness in global scope of the water challenges in Asian region and to promote sustainable development in Asia through addressing the regional water challenges. In order to achieve these objectives, AWC is planning to develop policies and technical background, build capacity through research and discussion, implement water related projects and platform a forum for stakeholders in Asia to participate in.

In the First General Assembly for Asia Water Council, there were more than 200 representatives from governmental agencies, donors, international organizations and civil society agencies.

Assoc. PhD. Bui Nam Sach – Director General of Institute of Water Resources Planning and PhD. Dao Trong Tu, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Commission of Irrigation and Drainage, Director of Center for Sustainable development of Water resources and Climate change adaptation (CEWAREC) were invited to participate in the First General Assembly of the Council.
