IHE-DELFT’S representative paid visit to the IWRP

On November 20, 2019, Mr. Johan A.van Dijk - Business Director of the Institute for Water Education (IHE-DELFT under the auspice of UNESCO) paid a visit to the IWRP. He was received by the IWRP’s Deputy Director - Mr. Thai Gia Khanh, together with leaders of some divisions and IHE-Delft alumni.

At the meeting, Mr. Johan A.van Dijk presented new trends in water engineering, water policy (transboundary cooperation and diplomacy) and water financing in the world in general and in the region and Vietnam in particular. He shared his observations about water education in universities of Vietnam and the need to attract more young peoples in higher water education to provide good human resources to meet the raising challenges in the water sector.

 In response, Mr. Ha Thanh Lan - Head of the IWRP’s Division for Training and International Cooperation shortly introduced about the IWRP and shared the views on the importance of capacity building on new fields of water accounting, water productivity and the completed and ongoing projects carried out the IWRP recently. Additional, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Head of the IWRP’s Division for Science, Technology and Environment discussed more about the Institute's knowledge and experience and upcoming projects, on water resources management allocation and suggested potential areas for cooperation in the future.

Mr. Johan A.van Dijk expressed his delight at the Institute's good results and expected a close cooperation with the Institute in water education. The IWRP affirmed their desire to carry out specific cooperation activities with the IHE-DELFT soon.
