Great Mekong Forum 2016, Bangkok, Thailand, 9-11 November 2016

Great Mekong forum – 2016 on Water, Food, and Energy was organized from November 9-11, 2016, in Bangkok, Thailand by CGIAR Research Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems.

The Forum is the largest event in the Mekong Region to address the confluence of water, food and energy. It brings together regional and international multidisciplinary professionals and thinkers to explore new and emerging ideas in water, its development and its exploitation and promote cross-regional learning and discussions on nexus-related issues, and networking.

This year, the event attracted 380 participants from more than 130 institutions of multidiscipline around the world.

Institute of Water Resources Planning was represented by Mr. Thai Gia Khanh – Deputy Director, Dr. Assoc. Prof. Bui Nam Sach – Former Director, Dr. Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Tuan – Head of Department of Science, Technology and Environment and Mr. Ha Thanh Lan – Head of Department of Training and International Cooperation. IWRP contributed to the event with presentations and talks in 3 sessions: Session 13: Changing society one individual at a time; Session 17: Not just a conveRSATion – effective multi-stakeholder dialogue for sustainable hydropower development in action and Session 34: Tolls for inclusive planning of water resources: monitoring and accounting ecosystem services.
