The workshop was co-chaired by Mr. Dong Van Tu - Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Water Resources (DWR), Mr. Vu Xuan Thanh - Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Disaster Management Authority (VNDMA), and Mr. Do Van Thanh - Director of the Institute of Water Resources Planning (IWRP). Attending the seminar and contributed ideas to the plan's contents were representatives from units under the DWR, VNDMA, the Director General of the Vietnam Academy for Water Resources, representatives of the Thuy Loi University, the Central Project Office for Water Resources, One-member Irrigation and Drainage Management Liability Limited Companies of Cua Dat, Ta Trach, Dau Tieng - Phuoc Hoa and representatives of planning consulting agencies, and delegates from 25 provinces and cities in four regions of the North Central Coast, South Central Coast, Central Highlands and Southeast Regions particularly.
On behalf of the association of the planning institutes, Mr. Do Van Thanh, Director of the IWRP as the project manager introduced in detail the contents implemented so far in the Master Plan for Hydraulic Works and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control for period 2021 – 2030 and vision to 2050, which emphasizes the results of identifying the views, goals, planning scenarios and orienting major and important solutions in infrastructure development for hydraulic works and natural disaster prevention and control for the period up to 2030 and 2050 according to different scenarios in regions and provinces to meet the requirements of irrigation, water supply, drainage, drainage and prevention floods and other types of natural disasters, ensuring socio-economic development and safety against natural disasters. In addition, the representative of the Southern Institute of Water Resources Planning presented disaster prevention and control plans for the Southeast Region.
The workshop participants, especially representatives of provinces in the planning areas highly appreciated the results achieved by the planning and shared practical ideas to the planning institutes for the improvement of the contents of research, calculation, and orientation of suitable solutions to characteristics of the regions and provinces.

On the same day, the IWRP and other organizations conducted a field visit to the Song Cai reservoir and Tan My surge dam in Ninh Thuan province.
