Friday morning, January 15, 2016, the Institute of Water Resources Planning celebrated the 55th Anniversary and honored to receive the title “Labor Hero”. The Deputy Prime Minister – Mr. Hoang Trung Hai, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development – Mr. Cao Duc Phat and other leaders of the Ministry, former leaders of the Ministry and other representatives from Ministries, Departments and Sectors, national and international partners of the Institute, and hundreds of staff members of various generations attended and shared the moment with the Institute.

The ceremony to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of the Institute of Water Resources Planning and honored to receive the title “Labor Hero” was held at National Convention Center on January 15, 2016.

The Institute was honored by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development – Mr. Cao Duc Phat, Vice Minister of MARD – Mr. Hoang Van Thang, former Minister of Ministry of Water resources – Mr. Nguyen Canh Dinh, former Minister of MARD- Mr. Le Huy Ngo, Former Chairman of the National Assembly Committee for External Affairs – Mr. Vu Mao, and other former leaders of MARD, MONRE of different generations. Also the Institute welcomed hundreds of representatives from Ministries, Departments, Sectors, Cities and Provinces, other national and international partners and more than 250 staff members of the Institute of different generations.

At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof – Dr. Bui Nam Sach – Director General of the Institute, on behalf of formers leaders and staff, recalled the proud history, challenges and achievements of the Institute over the last 55 years.  He emphasized on the effort and great contribution of the staff to the development of the Institute and to the water resources sector in general.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Hoang Trung Hai, on behalf of the Government, awarded the title “Labor Hero” to the Institute. In his speech, he affirmed the importance, contribution and effort of scientists and all of the staff members of the Institute of different generations in the development of the country in 55 years. The Deputy Prime Minister also appreciated the work of the Institute in managing water resources and key river systems in the North of Vietnam, developing the irrigation system for agriculture, constructing the reservoir cascade on the Da river combining water storage andpower generation, supplying water and controlling floods, managing water resources in an integrated manner, creating opportunities to develop other uses of water resources, especially water transportation, proposing and implementing Master plans for water use, construction of hydraulic works, rehabilitating agricultural soil and improving the productivity of the paddle fields in the South of Vietnam.

Emphasizing the crucial role of water and the management of the resource, especially in the context of climate change regarding the boom ofcurrent and future domestic demand, Deputy Prime Minister stated that the Institute as the leading agency in the planning of water resources should continue their efforts, enhance innovation in utilizing technologies, restructuring of plants and animals and recommendingsolutions to efficientlyexploit and utilize water resources  in order to maximize the benefits of water and minimize the limitations caused to production and life. Irrigation sector continued to accelerate restructuring, reviewing irrigation planning towards serving multiple purposes, serving agriculture, fisheries and other economic sectors.

At this ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister also awarded Labor Medal 2rd class and 3rd class to 6 officials of the Institute who have excellent performance in professionand management.

The Minister – Mr. Cao Duc Phat, delivered his gratitude to leaders of the Ministry and the Institute in different generations, who have together conquered challenges and developed the Institute as successful as currently.

The Minister –Mr. Cao Duc Phat stated that climate change is increasingly fierce, demanding planning work to be proactive, adaptable and innovative to make wise and correct decisions. The Minister recommended the board of managers of the Institute and all officials continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity and unified effort to fulfill their assigned responsibilities, worthy of honors of a Labor hero unit.

The glorious achievements that the Institute has been awarded, especially the title of Hero of Labor showed recognition and trust of the Government and the people with the efforts and the contributions of the Institute. During its 55 years of development, Institute of Water Resources Planning always respects the concern and timely guidance of the management, the cooperation and assistance of the agencies, industry, and localities, international partners, and especially the devotion and dedication of senior officials and employees of the Institute.

With pride and excitement about the achievements gained in 55 years, promoting the tradition and strength of a Labor Hero unit, the staff of the Institute determined to keep studying and make all efforts to develop in every aspect of the work to maintain the tradition of the institute, forming a leading national and regional institute in the field of water resources planning, providing reliable irrigation planning services and in related fields, enabling optimal use of water resources and sustainable environmental protection, meeting the demand for social - economic development of the country, promoting cooperation with regional and global organizations countries, contributing to the sustainable economic development, ensuring social security and strengthening international integration.
