On May 12, 2021, the IWRP had an online meeting with their Japanese and Indonesian partners in the project "Development of machine learning and remote sensing-based water management platform for sustainable agriculture in Asian deltas" (MARSWM-Asia). The partners are from Japan (Niigata University, Kobe University, and Kindai University) and from Indonesia (Bogor Agricultural University).

The MARSWM-ASIA project is a collaborative research project within the framework of the e-Asia Join Research Program, in the field of water resource management with the goal of building a platform for smart water management based on remote sensing technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to reduce negative effects caused by inundation, drought, and saltwater intrusion. The project is planned to be implemented in 3 years (2021 – 2024).

During the meeting, the parties focused on discussing technology, calculation techniques, implementation progress and work plan in the coming time. The IWRP and the international partners have come to an agreement on the work plan, the tasks of the parties, the project progress, and the training and capacity building plan for relevant staff.
